 My name is Josiah Edward Sarles. I was born today!! And contrary to superstition, today, Friday, June 13, 1997 was an especially auspicious day. Early this morning at about 3:00am Mommy felt her water break. She excitedly told Daddy about it. Daddy paged the doctor, and told her what had happened. Daddy suggested that Mommy take a quick shower, and then they got a taxi to the hospital. They got to the hospital at just before 4am. When they got there, Mommy felt her first strong contraction. If you want to see it, click here. At first the contractions came about every 5 minutes and they lasted 45 seconds. These were ok for me at first, but then I felt like I was being pushed down against a wall. I'm sure Mommy wasn't too comfortable either. Two hours later, Mommy's contractions were coming every two minutes, and they lasted more than 90 seconds. Daddy helped Mommy to breath through the contractions using the breathing techniques they learned in Lamaze class. After 12 hours of contractions, and me getting stuffed into that tiny passageway, the Doctor told Mommy that it was time to go to the delivery room. |
